Introduction

Established by European settlers in 1861 the Westhampton Shire is located on Western Australia's Southern coastline, 90km West from Perth. It is 61km from north to south and 62km from western to eastern boundary, comprising 2370 square km, of which 998 square km is state forest.

The Shire is blessed with an abundance of high quality arable land, dramatic coastal features and a scenic mountain range along it's northern border. Industry is predominantly high value agriculture, supporting a vibrant community. Climate
Westhampton Shire has a very pleasant climate with an average of 10 hours of sunshine a day and only 50 wet days per year. Summer is quite warm, with daily average minimum temperatures of 18-20 degrees (Celsius) and maximums in the high 30s. In winter average daytime temperatures in the mid-20s and nights averaging around 12 degrees.

The Shire is characterized by scenic landscapes, varying from rugged cliffs and capes inhabited by richly diverse native fauna and flora to a range of agricultural and recreational land uses.
